According to Ms.Ngoc Anh’s promise, the System of Ngoc Anh Therapy Massage along with Vietnamese Traditional Medicine Dong Nam Duoc Company carried out a charity trip to Lam Quang Pagoda to inquire after, examine and acupuncture for the elderly living in Lam Quang Pagoda on 11th Feb,2011 (the ninth of the first month in Chinese Lunar Year). It took us 11 days to prepare all things for this charity trip.All people, including the Directorate, herbalists, physicians and some therapists, gathered in full numbers at Vietnamese Traditional Medicine Dong Nam Duoc Company (348 Cach mang thang 8, Dist 3) at 8.00 a.m.
Many people have come to here several times. Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Anh - the general director of the system of Ngoc Anh Therapy Massage – often comes to Lam Quang Pagoda to inquire after and give the elderly gifts. With the whole staffs of Dong Nam Duoc Company, this is the first time they have come to Lam Quang Pagoda.
After we had talked to Buddhist Nun Thich Nu Hue Tuyen, she took us to relax place of the old folks. This year, relax area is more spacious because Buddhist Nun Thich Nu Hue Tuyen got building workers build one to look after the elderly better.
Our association was divided into two groups. The first group felt the pulses and acupunctured for the elderly who are bedridden because of sequel of cerebrovascular accident, the second group inquired after and acupunctured points for old folks who move quite hard.
The old folks themselves told us their poor and sad stories. Some old folks no longer have their relatives, others are not interested by their own children. Therefore, they must live at Lam Quang Pagoda.
When coming to relax area of the old folks who are bedridden, sound we heard is that their groans because of spasms of pain. We smelt odor of piss from beds of the elderly because those beds were not washed cleanly. Although they are washed, people working here can not wash totally because the old folks are not usually self-controlled to urinate.
We realized that the elderly still know many things although they can not move and stay in bed only. After feeling the pulses, acupuncturing and inquiring after them, we tended to return but we could not control ourselves because of the old folks’ look. We understood that the elderly wanted us to stay there to inquire after and talk to them. That thing will help them reduce sorrowfulness in their life.
Coming to Lam Quang Pagoda to inquire after the elderly and seeing their poor situations, our heart clenched with feelings of pity. In the old folks’ age, their own children should have looked after them.
